The employer is obliged to ensure that there is equipment and knowledge so that the employee can work safely at heights and avoid falls. In the Fall Protection Course you will learn the principles of personal fall protection equipment and what equipment is required for different types of work.
According to the law, the employer must instruct and give training to its staff who will work over two meters where there are no guardrails. This training ensures that you have the knowledge required for safe work with personal fall protection. Ausab’s training follows all the guidelines required by law.
According to AFS 1999:3 57-58 §, the risk of the employee falling to a lower level must be prevented. If necessary, guardrails, work platforms, baskets or scaffolding must be used. If guardrails or equipment cannot be used because of the nature of the work, personal fall protection equipment must be used.
AFS 2006:6 3 § describes that working conditions must be investigated and the risks assessed when lifting devices and lifting accessories are to be used. AFS 2006:6 15 § clarifies that a personal fall protection device must be used if it is necessary for safe access to the various parts of the lifting device or if there is a risk that the lifting device will be hit by another device or vehicle.
AFS 2001:3 4 § clarifies that the employer shall, at no cost to the employee, provide the personal protective equipment needed for the work.
According to AFS 2001:3 § 10, the employer must inform the employee in advance of the risks that the personal protective equipment in question is to protect against. The employer shall also arrange instruction and exercises and, if necessary, demonstrate how the equipment is to be used in such a way as to achieve the intended protective effect.
